For a great coffee we recommend Gloria Jeans Coffee which is right next door. The Fish and chip shop, next to the coffee shop is a great idea for lunch.

For something a little more sit down Fettas Greek Restaurant on Grafton st is just great for hanging out with friends and good food.

The best steak is found at the Waterbar and grill, Pier Shopping Centre/Pier Point Rd, Cairns, near the marina the tenderloin Steak ($38) is the best steak I’ve ever tasted

For tasty India food you cant go past  Marinades Indian Resturant,  43 Spence St, Cairns locally owned and always full of Indians (not the american type) which is always a good sign.

The Cairns Beach House is a hostel at 239 Sheridan St, Cairns and has a great bar which is always busy with backpackers opens around 6pm to 12 daily.

The Green Ant Cantina  located at 183 Bunda St  Cairns is the place in Cairns for Mexican food with specials daily. Backpackers get looked after on certain days see website for details.
